Shopping Centre wins customer service award
22 June 2009
Manchester Arndale is celebrating being the first retail centre in the UK to achieve the Manchester Standard award for world class customer service.
Karl Clawley, Retail Business Manager says: “We’re incredibly proud to have been granted the Manchester Standard and to be able to officially call our service world class! This award is testament to the dedication and commitment that our staff place in customer service everyday, ensuring that the centre stays at the top of the pack as a premiere shopping destination in the North West.”
The award was presented at a special ceremony held at the Concorde viewing hangar at Manchester Airport and included a tour of Concorde “Alpha Charlie”, once the flagship of the British Airways Concorde fleet and the only Concorde on display anywhere in the world with a fully accessible flight deck.
The Manchester Standard Award was given following an audit of Manchester Arndale’s entire approach to customer service by independent company, World Class Service, which investigates 364 customer service points/queries including face-to-face customer service and the physical shopping environment itself. An applicant must pass at least 80% of these strict points to make the grade.
World Class Service has studied standards of customer service for twenty years, across a variety of sectors - ensuring a complete understanding of what service needs to make it truly world class.
Other organisations within Manchester which have received the award include The Midland Hotel, the Museum of Science and Industry, Manchester City Football Club, Bridgewater Hall and the Lowry Hotel.
Karl concludes: “Every member of our team will now receive a special pin badge showing our new-found world class status and we’ll certainly all wear them with pride!”
