Interserve and University College London Hospital (UCLH) NHS Foundation Trust have won the Partners in Healthcare Award at the PFM Awards 2009. The services, maintenance and building group received the award with the NHS Foundation Trust at a ceremony at The Brewery, London, 11 November 2009.
The Premises and Facilities Management Awards, now in their 16th year, recognise best practice in partnerships in facilities management and support services between service suppliers and their clients. They are decided by a panel of expert judges.
Interserve has worked with UCLH and Health Management (UCLH) since 2000, managing and delivering a range of fully integrated facilities management. This work involves helping the Trust reduce its carbon emissions by 10% by 2010. This will help UCLH reduce carbon emissions by 2,900 tonnes per annum, cutting the current energy spend of £5.4m by £180K.
Lesley Seville, General Manager at Interserve, commented: “We are delighted that the success of our partnership with UCLH has been recognised with this fantastic award. Winning the award is testament to the hard work and dedication of the team.”
Trevor Payne, Director of Facilities at UCLH commented: “Every aspect of a patient’s journey is important, and basic, consistent service delivery is fundamental to this. It is of prime importance to patients, visitors and employees that facilities services support the effective delivery of healthcare as this will shape and inform their experience of the hospital, and therefore their view of the Trust. Interserve has been working closely with us to deliver a sustainable patient environment, and we’re delighted this work has been recognised by the judges.”
Keith Lawrence Operations Director for HMU (plc) commented: “Interserve have been working with all stakeholders in order to ensure added value for the benefit of service delivery. We are all extremely pleased that these efforts have been acknowledged by our peer group, through this award.”
The panel of judges was looking for evidence of a good partnership, what it has achieved and examples of innovation. New this year was also the need to demonstrate how partners are working towards sustainability goals and the objectives within the business, property and facilities management strategy that benefit the environment, the workforce and the wider community.
